New Arrest Warrant Obtained in Connection with the Suspected Terrorist Attack on a Ver.di Event in Munich
Today (14 April 2025), the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office obtained a new arrest warrant against the
Afghan national Farhad N.
from the Investigating Judge at the Federal Court of Justice.
The individual is strongly suspected of two counts of murder (section 211 para. 2 of the German Criminal Code [StGB]), 54 counts of attempted murder and bodily harm (section 223 para 1 StGB), and dangerous interference with road traffic (section 315b para. 1 no. 3, para. 3 in conjunction with section 315 para. 3 StGB).
The arrest warrant substitutes the arrest warrant, which the Munich Public Prosecutor General’s Office had obtained from the Munich District Court on 14 February 2025. On 13 February 2025, Farhad N. had been taken into temporary custody and has since been held in pre-trial detention. On 14 February 2025, the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office took over the investigation (see Press Release No. 14 of 14 February 2025).
Today, the suspect was brought before the Investigating Judge at the Federal Court of Justice who issued a new arrest warrant and ordered that pre-trial detention remain in effect.
